Today I had chance to visit an extraordinary exhibition about Istanbul in Munich : Orte Des Exils (Sürgün Yerleri) : Münih ve İstanbul. The exhibition is about the banishment times of Jewish and how Istanbul keeps the community expelled from Germany. It was worth to see some original documents, videos and memories from these days.

Actually, the Jewish museum in Munich consists of 3 floors where in first 2 floors there are permanent exhibitions about Jew community in Munich and Germany. On the 3rd floor, there has been “Munich & Istanbul” exhibition from 3rd of December to 08th of March. Here you can see the stories of Jewish people before and after Hitler period, Prof. Siegfried Oberndorfer’s experiences in Turkey, Istanbul memorials as a banishment place and some objects linking Munich, Istanbul and Jew s. If you have some free time, I advice you to enjoy this exhibition.

Entrance fee is 3 euros and you can use this map to find where the museum is.
