Bavaria Tour on Oktoberfest 2014 : Salzburg

Salzburg is the pearl jam of Austro-Bavarian land. It is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A big portion of the city is under UNESCO protection as world heritage site. Students love Salzburg as there are 3 universities in such a small city of 150.000 residents.

Salzburg View

Salzburg does not belong to Austria, it is Bavaria here. Just like Munich does not belong to Germany, but it does to Bavaria. Bayern regional train goes between Munich and Salzburg more than 5 times a day. That sounds interesting that Salzburg, a city of Austria belongs to Bayern train network of Deutsche Bahn, a national railway operator of Germany.

A weird sculpture in Salzburg

A weird sculpture of Richar Mayr in Salzburg. He is buried at St.Peter cemetery in Salzburg.

That`a single day city for travellers. There are dozens of Bavarian – Viennese mixture cafes and pubs in the old town. Getreidegasse makes you ask how a street was protected so elaborately.
