Birthday Present Concerts
I am 32. It is the age that I am learning how to be a father with new responsibilities, new life style, new feelings.
Deren congratulated my new age with two concert tickets : Tarja Turunen (aka Nightwish) and Ian Anderson (aka Jethro Tull).
I have been following Tarja since her Nightwish performances. After her separation from the band, she continued her solo career. I do like her strong, opera-based voice. At her 40, she is still shining on the stage. I can even go further that she is one of the coolest female vocals I have ever seen. The other one is Roisin Murphy whom I had chance to listen in Santral Istanbul. Another one is Selda Bagcan – unfortunately I could not meet her.
Tarja was on stage, all in black, in Sala Palatului – one of the most acoustic concert halls in Bucharest.
It was obvious that she is in another planet while singing. Despite other popular names, she cheered the crowd with her basic Romanian in between her songs. She had acoustic section with her band. She left a beautiful taste in our minds and ears.
Next concert was Ian Anderson, legendary vocalist and flautist of Jethro Tull. I am so lucky that I had chance to watch him live for the third time. First concert was in Park Orman, Istanbul on 6 June 2008. Second one was in Sala Palatului, Bucharest on June 2014. And third one was again in Sala Palatului, Bucharest on February 2017. Ian Anderson was 70 years old and still rocking. Long live Ian.
He is a true music lover, a professor in rock & roll, a unique flautist, acoustic guitarist with beautiful sound, song writer of amazing lyrics. And once again, he is 70 years old and still performing a 2 hours concert – Heavy Horses, Bouree, Back to the Family, Locomotive Breath, Aqualung, Living in the Past, Too old to Rock n Roll and so on and so forth.
Keep the good music on my friends.
